I'm so exhausted.
Today started at 7am in Harlan, KY with a biscuits and gravy breakfast at the hotel, and a short drive to the diamond- through a low hanging mist and fog.
After a brief overview and words of encouragement and prayer about the day from Keith Madison, we came up with basic concepts and ideas for our goals.
We broke off into our groups and planned our lessons for the day.
We had four groups- Hitting, Outfield, Infield, and Pitching. I was in the pitching.
Also in my group were Dr. Kibler, 5 pitchers from Asbury College, the Manager of Asbury College, and former Seattle Mariner Greg Scheer.
All corners of the field- a gorgeous field!- were used for the stations.
We took each of the four groups through throwing and pitching drills for 20 minutes, then they went to the next station. Once we had seen them all, we did it again, but this time we played a little skill game, and had a coach witness or testify after it was all over.
Later, when we were all done, Keith got all of the players together and introduced former major leaguer Josh Anderson spoke to the entire group about the importance of prioritizing and having a plan in life.
The kids seemed encouraged, and were treated to a hotdog and hamburger lunch by a local church.
I said my goodbyes, to everyone- I gave a bookmark that I had made as a thank you to each of the organizers of the event- and we all sort of hit the road at the same time. They all went to their homes... I pointed the car toward Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.
Again, the roads were anything but flat, and again I was in and out of different States- Tennessee and Virginia-a few times each.
Anyway, I'm going to bed. Today's verse is entirely selfish- PROVERBS 3:24:
"When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet."
Until the morning!
